Are you still a teacher?

Hello Teachers, well maybe?

Do you feel like this?

Woah! This year has been very rough for many people! Are you still teaching right now? We have had a couple of teachers leave us, and I know there are many around the country who have left teaching or who are thinking of leaving.

What do you think it is?

Is it administrative support?

Pay?

Behavior issues?

Masks?

Covid?

All the above?

I know I cannot fix bigger issues for you but I hope I can help. I started a new freebie a couple of months ago that gives advice on how to implement your Morning Meeting to build relationships. I know some of you joined my e-mail list before I changed the freebie. If you need that guide, please e-mail me back directly @ heather.schrage@gmail.com

Remember if you want to try and use a different Morning Meeting to really jump start your next semester into a better semester, try the following:

  • Download my guide
  • Use visuals during Morning Meeting
  • Talk to students during Morning Meeting
  • Have breakfast in your room with your kids. Make it fun and build those connections!
  • Use Morning Meeting Questions to have your students dive deep into discussions that will build relationships with each other.

Last year when I implemented my new Morning Meeting, students who were a huge behavior issue in first grade, were not a behavior problem in my class. Students wanted to come to class on time to start Morning Meeting with everyone. They were very upset if we missed one of the Google Slides or if they came in late!

If you are a teacher who struggles with Classroom Management, the Morning Meeting Guide will help, but I also recommended buying the book, “Dream Class.” The book helped me with my struggles after my first two years were difficult in the classroom.

I am coaching a first-year teacher right now, and she is really enjoying the book and is gaining some crucial knowledge for her classroom.

If you are really ready to jump in and transform your class, I have different Morning Meeting visuals available in my TPT store.

Do you need more ideas for Morning Meeting? A Video of The Day during Morning Meeting is the next step to creating stronger connections and inferencing skills with your students. Using visuals like a Video of Day with teaching is important because visuals or videos keep students engaged and students are able to see their learning before doing the work. The work can be modeled with a visual on the board and students are going to be able to follow along with more than just talking. Using a video during Morning Meeting will lead to students having deeper conversations with what they noticed in the video. Students make connections on a daily basis with shows and videos on their phones. Therefore, students will be able to create connections and inferences with the videos on the screen because they do it every day with their own devices.

Hello Friends! I hope you are relaxing before back to school gets in full swing! Or maybe you are already back at school? On Tiktok I noticed a lot of teachers are in the process of setting up their classrooms! That is exciting news! Some teachers are going all out and stringing lights and putting up colorful contact paper on the walls. I am grateful to just have an office to decorate this year! It has been a tiring summer chasing after a 2 and a half-year-old. =) I am starting at a new...
